What causes algae in Round Lake? Is that plant a “weed” or a benefit to our lake? What is the water quality in our lake, how is it measured, and why? Shoreline erosion, what causes it and how can it be prevented? What type of fish and other animals live in and on our lake? How can I help improve our lake?
Come out on the lake to learn the answers to these questions and much more! The Lake County Health Department – Environmental Services (LCHD-ES) in conjunction with the Round Lake Management Commission (RLMC) will be conducting a free environmental tour and lecture on Round Lake.
All are invited. So bring out your boat and fill them with questions for the LCHD-ES staff. You don’t have a boat, no problem; we will have plenty of room you. Refreshments will be served on the water, compliments of the RLMC. Meet at the Round Lake Beach, Beach Front Park boat launch at the northwest corner of Round Lake, just off North Lake Shore Drive in Round Lake Beach at 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 24th.
In the case of heavy rain, the back-up date is 9 a.m. Sunday, September 25th. Questions, please call Tim Pasternak at 847-644-3976.
